Stephen King on Paid Twitter BlueTicks: ‘F**k That’ | CoinGabbar Blogs

The internet does not take anything lightly and the new Twitter CEO is making all the moves to provide the right fodder for headlines.

Changes that none has expected in the functioning of Twitter are already under final approval and a lot of things are expected to change in the near future. However, the changes in the core functioning of Twitter are not being welcomed by all the users, and some significant names have raised their voices against it.

Ideas of significant changes in Twitter are attracting opinions from all over the world but our beloved storyteller, Stephen King has made it clear that he has no intention of paying even a dime for his bluetick on Twitter.

Back in 2021, Twitter Blue was launched, providing different features to the accounts such as making changes to the tweets, undoing tweets, and other such features. However, a Twitter Blue subscription was not mandatory to use the platform. Elon Musk, after gaining control of Twitter seems fascinated by the idea of making Twitter Blue mandatory for all verified accounts on Twitter.

This is forcing verified accounts to share their opinions on paying for the subscription. In the light of the same scenarios, Stephen King has made his choice very clear to his audience.

In a tweet a few hours back, Stephen King said:

“$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.”

The sheer rage in his tweet was more than evident and Mr. King has made it clear that he is willing to stand by his values even if that cost him leaving Twitter forever. Stephen King is a name known to all and his absolute popularity has made his opinion go viral over the internet. Everybody is talking about the values of free speech in the light of his stance and thinking about the entire story from a moral point of view.

The debate on his tweet has escalated quickly and fans have started pondering the reasons behind the stance of Stephen King. Mr. King has been active on Twitter after writing this tweet and replied to some of the queries as well. In response to one of the comments stating that his comment is odd and a successful writer can surely afford to pay a small amount, Stephen King said:

“It ain't the money, it's the principal of the thing.”

Stephen has made it clear his opposition is not about the value of money but the principle of things. The question of morals and philosophy has forced Musk to enter the debate and share his rationale behind taking such a decision. Replying to Mr. King, Elon said:

“We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?

I will explain the rationale in a longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls.”

Musk has not only offered to reduce the price of the subscription but has also proposed a formal declaration of the implementation process. The tweet became important for the elite Twitter community as they can behold their responses until Elon declare the changes formally.

An abrupt change in the leadership of Twitter might invite many more decisions that can change the entire experience of users without much delay. However, we hope that Elon Musk will stand by his values of free speech and will enable it on the platform as indicated by his gestures.

This episode has made the headlines and made Musk look authoritarian, challenging his image of a free speech defender. Musk is a businessman before anything else and we can get his idea behind entertaining such a mandate. The decision might backfire if more celebrity accounts follow the lines of Stephen King and this is surely not what Musk wants right after joining Twitter as the decision maker.

More Changes to Come

Elon has taken the charge of Twitter with an aim to revolutionize the entire user experience of the world’s biggest micro-blogging social community. Musk has been a Twitter user for ages and has faced the common problems that every normal user face on the platform. Problems such as limited character count in a single tweet and their uneditable nature are more likely to be dealt with better solutions.

Other speculations are around the adoption of Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment method for Twitter Blue and other related services. Due to these expectations, Dogecoin is undergoing a massive bull run, giving 100+ percent returns in the last 5 days. Twitter is an effective marketing destination for brands and the implementation of any token in the ecosystem can enhance its utilization to another level.

However, nothing of these speculations is certain, and changing the entire user experience of millions of users is not going to happen overnight and surely not without some resistance. We at CoinGabbar will continue to monitor the updates regarding the future of Twitter under its new leadership and keep you updated about the same.
