Over the past few months, it has appeared that

Big Tech's bull run is coming to an end. As interest rates rise, even cash-rich tech firms are scaling back on risky, pricey moonshots or money-losing projects.

However, one speculative bet is gradually looking like excellent value for money. As per recent reports, Microsoft is in talks with OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, about a possible acquisition.

OpenAI’s owned ChatGPT gained significant popularity in the past few months. ChatGPT is a large language model chatbot built on GPT-3.5 which was trained on Azure. It has an incredible ability to interact in the form of a conversational dialogue and offer responses that can appear remarkably realistic.

Earlier in 2019, Microsoft invested $1 billion in the AI research firm OpenAI, which was formed by Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and a group of others. Now, OpenAI is reportedly in talks to raise fresh capital at a valuation of around $30 billion.

As per reports, Microsoft is willing to pay up to $10 billion for the acquisition. The report added that the funding terms include Microsoft receiving 75% of OpenAI's profits until it recoups its initial investment once OpenAI figures out how to make money on ChatGPT. On hitting that threshold, Microsoft will own 49% of OpenAI, with other investors owning 49% and OpenAI's non-profit parent owning 2%.

Microsoft to include ChatGPT in its office software?

Through the acquisition, the company aims to incorporate OpenAI's artificial intelligence into Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and other products. This will allow users to flesh out a document with stretches of automatically-generated text based on a prompt.

Furthermore, this might include an AI-generated email that is created for the user depending on what they wish to say to the recipient. Microsoft engineers and researchers have been utilizing OpenAI's machine-learning models for more than a year to create customized AI tools for drafting emails and documents.

In addition, the acquisition might benefit Microsoft's Bing browser, its struggling Google competitor. As per reports, the company also planning to integrate ChatGPT into Bing.

AI making its way into Web3

In the Web3 community, artificial intelligence (AI) is a hot topic. While many people believe that AI will play a crucial role in the future of the internet, some are still skeptical about what AI can do for Web3.

Experts noted that AI will assist in the creation of more user-friendly web application interfaces. They believe AI can assist in selecting which content to display on a website. Also, AI can be utilized to help improve search engine rankings.

So far, there are a few examples of how AI is being utilized in Web3. For example, the website Suggesto use AI to recommend new content to users based on their preferences. Another example is the search engine Presearch's use of AI to give better search results by taking into account a user's particular interests and history.

As more people explore AI in Web3, the digital community will definitely witness more innovative applications for this technology in the times to come.
